Linda - a beginner's yoga story

Anyone can do yoga. It's never too late to start. You can be any age, any size, any fitness level. If you can breathe, then you can do it!

Linda retired at Christmas time 2016 and wanted to do all the things she remembered doing before she worked full time. She had a bit of a shock as she suddenly realised she wasn't as mobile as she remembered, she couldn't even lift a shopping bag home (because of a frozen shoulder), and she felt, well, a bit old!

Michelle, Linda's daughter, tried to persuade her to come to yoga with her on a Friday morning  at Reigate Martial Arts but Linda was convinced she wouldn't fit in with 'all the young people' and that she'd look silly in front of other people. But Michelle persuaded Linda to come to me in April for a trial yoga session at home and she surprised herself how much she could actually do. It gave her the confidence to come along to the group class on a Friday and she's not looked back!

Over the past few months Linda has felt her strength return and has found a new confidence from having a body that works again! Her frozen shoulder has improved so much she can now carry her handbag again, her legs feel stronger and she went and treated herself to some new yoga gear. She looks and feels amazing and we love having Linda in our class. In fact, she's first in line to get us to go for a cup of tea after and we're not complaining.

If you're considering where to start with yoga why not have a look at the class especially for beginners or book a 1-2-1 session.
